CHRISTMAS PARTY TIME SET!
Preparations are proceeding at a frenzied pace for the big event of the season.  The Noventa Christmas party is a “go” for 5:00 on Sunday, December 15 at Marsha and Steve Martin’s home.  The map is attached along with the sign-up list, the schedule and all of the other pertinent information.  Forget what you signed up to bring? That’s there too!

FINAL MEETING OF 2002 ON DEC. 19

If you miss that one, you will have to wait until January 9, 2003 to get your Noventa fix!  There will be no meeting on Thursday, January 2nd!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JIM
...On December 11th!

EVERYONE USES THE WORD

____ Our Grammarian/Orator/Joke master Steve Martin was the leader of a joke session that saw contributions from Bob Anderson, Jim Sullivan and Liz as well as The Good Pilot delivered by Bose radio.  His oration What Money Can’t Buy lead naturally to the word of the evening - money.  Table Topics master Maury Fisher asked us what wines we were drinking 26 years ago and reminded us of Chablis, Blue Nun and Matuse - the heavy hitters of years gone by (Lancers, too Maury). He then asked us to talk about some aspect of wine or Turkey (the place).   The “T” was shared by Norm and Jim.

NORM STRETCHES THE DOLLAR

According to our timer, Jim Sullivan for all of 7:22.  Using the title The Dollar, Norm told us of the history and meaning of some of the features of our most common unit of currency.  The green seal of the Department of the Treasury features a balance - for a balanced budget, a masons square for accuracy and the key representing the treasury itself.  On the reverse the number 13 is featured prominently in the two halves of the Great Seal - the steps in the pyramid, stripes in the shield, stars over the head of the eagle and arrows in one claw and leaves of the olive branch in the other.  Ben Franklin was the designer.  Our General Evaluator Bill Gehring performed the evaluation.

HAS THE BONE FOUND A HOME?
Norm nominated himself for the nomination of our past Division Governor, Mark Alcaiti, for the bone last week.  This drew no support.  On the theory that one bone is not good enough, Bill nominated Mark because getting the bone last week miffed him. Everyone supported that nomination.
